Kim Alexander Independent Executive Director - California
For Kim Alexander, the empowering freedom to decide when she wants to work and how successful she wants to be is the most thrilling aspect of her career as an Independent Executive Director with BeautiControl. “It’s great not having to rush to the grocery store after work and then rush home,” she says. Today she’s in charge of her time and her own success. “I love that freedom. I like the way it makes me feel. It empowers me,” she says.
“My passion and my biggest dream
were to be able to be with my
daughter, and beauticontrol
allows me to do that.”
For 11 years, Kim worked as a secretary from 8 to 5 Monday through Friday. When her daughter came along, Kim wanted to spend more time with her at home. Even with two incomes, her family was barely able to pay their bills, so she knew she had to work. “It really crushed me to have to take her to daycare and watch somebody else raise her,” she says. Kim wanted to be an involved mother, to make her lunch, to watch her first steps and be in front of her daily. time for a change
When a friend told Kim about BeautiControl, she was reluctant. She preferred hangingout at the back of the room to speakingin front of people, but she wanted to find a way to stay home to be with her daughter one day a week. Her first goal was to earn an extra $300 per month. Kim cut her office days down to four and then three. “Pretty soon, I remember sittingin my office thinking, ‘What am I doing here?’ ” She saw the potential to earn more money, spend time with her daughter and do what she knew she loved to do. “After consistently workingmy business for six to eight months, I was able to quit my job,” she said. “At the time, my passion and my biggest dream were to be able to be with my daughter, and BeautiControl allows me to do that.”
That was three years ago. “It changed my life, my income has changed dramatically,” she says. What she really loves is beingan involved mother. “We can all be lovingmothers, but to be an involved mother and to be able to be a part of my child’s everyday activities is important to me,” she says. Kim’s success allowed her husband to quit the job he’d had for 15 years to be an involved father. He was supportive when Kim left her job to pursue her business, and BeautiControl provides the opportunity for him to follows his dreams, too. multiply success
Kim’s daily contact has affected her daughter. “I hear my excitement and my verbiage in the words she uses everyday, because she listens to me,” she says. “So I want to be the best example I can be.” Kim models a work ethic for her daughter. “She sees me strivingfor goals, and she sees me achievingthem,” she says. “She also sees me’helpingother women be their best. She hears me coachingthem on the telephone.” Kim says she also wants her daughter to understand that you have to work for what you want. “If I want somethingmore expensive, or I want somethingbetter, then I need to have a plan, and I need to work for that,” Kim says. Part of that plan is to have specific goals; she writes down her goals and checks them off as they’re achieved. “I was always a list person, so that really helps me stay focused and organized,” she says. Kim gives herself daily, weekly and monthly goals. “I know that if I work my daily business and my weekly business, and I teach others to do the same, then my personal goal will happen,” she says.
“i know that if i work my business and teach others
to do the same, my personal goal will happen.”
Kim’s desire to be an involved mother grew into personal and professional success. She has the family and the income, but she also has developed personally and she’s doing things she never imagined she would. “It’s amazingwhat happens when you’ve got a goal in mind,” Kim says. “BeautiControl has helped me develop to my fullest potential. I’m now the person I’ve always wanted to be. I’d never have been able to draw that person out before, but now BeautiControl has helped me blossom.”
