Chimene Ross
independent Executive Director - Ohio
When Chimene Ross and her husband, Matthew, discussed starting a home-based business, it was for the tax advantages and a little extra cash. But the blessings of her newfound self-confidence, financial freedom, flexibility and many new friend ships are more than she could have ever expected . Now, Chimene is a stay-at-home mom of three and an Executive Director for BeautiControl. She brings in a great income and has earned a free Mustang convertible and several incredible vacations. “All of that is wonderful,” she says. “But you can’t put a dollar amount on the value of having control over your own life.”
Chimene was a registered nurse when she started her business. The job left her tired and cranky and was very hard on her family, so of course the opportunity to work from home sparked her interest. “I was exploring the possibilities of a home-based business,” she says. “I really didn’t join BeautiControl with any expectation of all that has happened.”
from on-call to in control
When Chimene became a director, Matthew told her it was time to put all her energy into it. “He saw it even before I did ,” she says. “So I quit my job.” Now she is her own boss. Chimene went from working oncall in seven-day stretches to making her own schedule. She takes her kids to and from school, and is able to attend field trips and classroom presentations. She has the freedom to dedicate weekends to her family and to attend a church meeting every Thursday night. “All of the things that are important to me can come first in my life because of BeautiControl—because I can work my business around them,” she says. “Being able to do that and earn the kind of money I do is wonderful!”
The Ross family even has a special ritual for the few nights each week that Chimene hold s Spa Escapes. “They know if I have a spa that night, we’ll do their homework when they come home from school and eat dinner together,” she says. “And our children are very close to their father because of those couple nights a week when he puts them to bed .”
“Beauticontrol gave me the gift of travel
again, and I get to share those experiences
with my husband.”
Chimene believes her children learn valuable lessons from watching her business grow. “I get to teach them that, when they have a career, it’s OK to pick something they find joy in. They see me having fun,” she says. “I feel that I am sending a much broader message than I was with my nursing job. They see the whole picture with this business, because it’s right here in our house.” Chimene’s family enthusiastically supports her success. “When we have our big promotions, I involve the kids and pick out an award for them for each award I win,” she says. “This way, all the family is working for the rewards, not just me.”
family matters
Even her marriage has totally changed . Matthew is her No. 1 fan, and Chimene says her business has allowed him to get excited about planning for their retirement. “He can see the financial benefits. He sees the confid ence I now have, and how it has changed me,” she says. “It’s sweet. Sometimes he’ll see things have gone well, and he gets this kind of smile and says, ‘Wow, I’m really proud of you.’ ”
These days, the couple makes time to travel together, a passion Chimene had put on the back burner when they started their family. Two years ago, Chimene earned a trip to Hawaii, but she was nervous about leaving her twins at home. Samantha and Sophia were born with heart d isease and required openheart surgery as tod d lers. “The trip is something we probably would n’t have planned for ourselves at this point in our lives,” she says. “But a friend said to me, “They aren’t going to remember you ever d id this, but you will remember it for the rest of your life. She was right!”
“You can’t put a dollar amount on the value
of having control over your own life.’ ”
Chimene feels her BeautiControl vacations mad e her and her husband realize the importance of taking care of each other. “We’ve been so busy the last 10 years, having kid s and making a life, that we haven’t taken as much time for each other as we should ,” she says. “BeautiControl gave me the gift of travel again in my life, and now I get to share those experiences with my husband . I d on’t think I would have d one that for myself.”
When Chimene looks at the changes in her life, she d oes so with joy. “It’s very reward ing. This is something I wasn’t trained for, but it’s easy and my interest in other people mad e it grow.” Tod ay, Chimene counts sharing BeautiControl and helping others achieve their goals as one of her passions. “My goal is to create an environment where people feel they can become successful,” she says. “I know everyone else can do it too."
