Barbara Ward
Platinum Senior National Executive Director - Texas

Never underestimate the influence of a mother. Barbara Ward knows that anyone, regardless of education, economics, race or age, can live their dreams through BeautiControl. She was a high school dropout, who because of BeautiControl, finally started to believe in herself and her ability to achieve her goals.

Growing up in a modest house in East Texas, both of her parents worked. Her mother drove a city bus and she would sit in the front seat and ride around with her as a child. Her mother’s next job was selling Stanley home products. She would go with her at night to watch and help out with the parties – This was Barbara’s first encounter with direct sales.

“I always liked going with my mom in the evenings. I thought the parties were fun, but I never dreamed I could live the life I am now through direct sales.”

At 16, Barbara fell in love with her high school sweetheart and dropped out of high school to get married. That same year, she had her first child. When Barbara was 21, she had four children.

For the next eight years, she was a full-time mom. But once her children were in school, she was lonely. Barbara longed to be around other people. She landed her first job in the school system and also dabbled in direct sales.

Barbara joined BeauitControl in 1983; however, her circumstances made her feel insecure. At her first national conference she saw all the successful ladies on stage, she says, “I thought I could never be like them.” But BeautiControl believed in Barbara, and this belief in her changed everything. She started to believe she could be up on that stage too. That’s what Barbara loves about BeautiControl – “You can pass that belief system on to help others achieve their dreams.”

Six months later, she became a Director and was honored with a trip to Hawaii and diamond jewelry. In fact, Barbara hasn’t had a car payment in more than 23 years. Barbara says that consistency is key. “Attend monthly meetings, national conferences each year and hold Spa ESCAPEs weekly, have faith… that consistent activity will produce results!”

Her success continues to soar – in 2006, she was named BeautiControl’s first Platinum Senior National Executive Director. “I have never felt so encouraged and positive about BeautiControl as I do today.
